INTEC were appointed as construction advisor by the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution at their Lord Harris Court care home in Wokingham, Berkshire.
INTEC provided project management, cost consultancy and planning supervisor services with design provided to INTEC by DWA Architects. The project was to provide an extension to the existing 80-bed carehome, the extension provides 13 no. en-suite bathrooms with ancillary support services.
During feasibility stages, numerous development options were reviewed and a second floor extension to the central wing best met the Client's needs and requirements. The extension was carried out whilst the Home remained occupied. The construction required careful removal of the existing roof and erection of a lightweight dormer roof and weatherproofing prior to fitting out the rooms.
The project is a finalist in the Healthcare Design Awards 2007.
